The portrayed subjects are often depicted in everyday poses despite being engulfed in swirling red and green waters. The colors and warped bodies in my paintings serve as an alarm for the plight of global warming and the embodied climate anxiety that comes with it.
About Zoe Schweiger
Zoe Schweiger is a multi-disciplinary artist born and based in Miami, Florida. She received her BFA in Interdisciplinary Sculpture from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, Maryland in 2022. Schweiger has exhibited her work in a number of solo and group exhibitions, including Above The Limestone at NSU Art Museum in Ft Lauderdale, Florida and Under Warm Water at Spinello Projects in Miami, Florida. She has also been included in exhibitions in New York and Miami such as The Armory Show with Spinello Projects, The BluPrnt, curated by Robert Chambers at Bridge Red Studios, Deconstructing the Sameness, a survey by Ronald Sanchez at Laundromat Art Space, and Narration Within the Materials, curated by Amani Lewis at T&Y Projects with Art Intelligence Global in Tokyo, Japan.
Schweiger has received numerous awards and scholarships, including a MICA Competitive Scholarship, MICA Creative Visions Award, MICA Presidential Scholarship, and MICA The DaVinci Award. In 2018, she received an Honorable Mention in the YoungArts competition, and in 2017, she received an Honorable Mention in the Scholastics competition. Her work has been published in several publications, including The Gallatin Review and Sprung Formal and her work is in the permanent collection of The NSU Art Museum, in Ft Lauderdale, Florida.
