90 – 91 + 2011 – 2019, Visions From Home
Mindy Solomon Gallery is proud to present a solo exhibition of works by artist Azikiwe Mohammed. The content of the show will reflect his earliest recollections of his travels to Miami as a child.
“I have been coming to Miami on and off for almost 10 years. I lived here for one of them with my Father. Most of my memories are at dusk, including the 3 day train ride down here in 1990,
the entirety of which happened over a two hour timespan when the sky and everything it touches turns purple. Some of these images are from those hours, some others are from hours I was told about. Earlier hours from earlier years when I wouldn’t have been able to see everything as purple and blue, because everything was Black and white.”
